Some 11.6kg of herbal cannabis was seized at Dublin Airport when a man was searched with the assistance of a sniffer dog.

On Friday, after routine profiling and with the aid of detector dog Scooby, Revenue officers seized the cannabis when they stopped and searched a 31-year-old Malaysian man just off a flight from Madrid.

The cannabis has an estimated street value in excess of €230,000. The passenger was arrested and remanded in custody at Ballymun Garda station.

Investigations are ongoing.
