Gardai have ruled out foul play in the death of a 43-year-old man whose body was found in a house in West Cork last night.

Gardaí were alerted after a Polish man returned to his home in Dunmanway at about 8.50pm and found the body of his brother in an upstairs bedroom.

The scene was preserved before the man’s body was removed to Cork University Hospital.

Assistant State Pathologist, Dr Margot Bolster carried out a postmortem on the dead man at Cork University Hospital this morning and has given a preliminary report to gardai.

Gardai said they are still awaiting the results of toxicology tests on sample taken at postmortem but they are satisified the man was not the victim of an assault.

“We’re still waiting a full report from Dr Bolster to confirm the exact cause of death and she will have to await the results of toxicology tests before she can do that.

“But we’re satisfied from Dr Bolster’s findings to date that the deceased was not the victim of any assault and did not die as a result of foul play,” a Garda source said.
