Six sent to trial for Dale Creighton murder

Six men and a young woman accused of the murder of Dale Creighton in Tallaght on New Year's Day have been sent forward for trial to the Central Criminal Court.

Books of evidence were served when they appeared before Judge Michael Walsh at Dublin District Court today.

They all indicated they understood when the judge informed them that they must notify the prosecution within 14 days if they intended to rely on alibis in their defence.

Dale Creighton (20) died after an incident at about 4am at a footbridge on Saint Dominic’s Road.

In June, after gardaí received directions from the DPP, murder charges were brought against seven people, who are all from Tallaght. Among them are: brother and sister Aisling Burke (20) of Bolbrook Grove, Tallaght and David Burke (25), of Village Square.

Also charged with murder were Graham Palmer (24) of Homelawn Rd; Ross Callery (20) of Westpark; James Reid (23) of Homelawn Avenue; Jason Beresford (20) from Avonbeg Gardens; and Gerard Stephens (24) with an address at St Dominic's Terrace.

Judge Walsh said they were being returned for trial to the present sittings of the Central Criminal Court.

A seventh man, 21-year-old James O’Brien, of Avonbeg Drive, Tallaght, has been charged with assault causing harm to Dale Creighton.

He was also served with book of evidence today and returned for trial.

None of the defendants have yet indicated how they will plead and they will remain on bail pending trial.
