Dublin woman accused of €10,000 social welfare fraud

A Dublin woman facing charges in relation to an alleged €10,000 social welfare fraud has been sent forward for trial to the Circuit Court.

Ciara O’Donnell was before Tallaght District Court for service of her book of evidence. The DPP had previously directed trial on indictment.

Ms O'Donnell, (40), York Street, Dublin 7, is charged with 46 counts of stealing social welfare payments of €188 on dates between May 1st, 2013 and May 14th, 2014 from the post offices at Windy Arbour, Dundrum and Nutgrove Shopping Centre.

The court had heard the total alleged amount involved in the case was €10, 385.

She is also charged with making a false instrument, namely an identity for a named deceased person at an address at Landscape Gardens, Churchtown, on May 27th, 2014.

A solicitor for the State told Judge Bridget Reilly that the book of evidence was ready to be served. She said the DPP had consented for Ms O'Donnell to be sent forward for trial to the present sittings of Dublin Circuit Court.

Judge Reilly sent Ms O’Donnell forward on bail to the present sittings of the Circuit Court.
