A farmer who had five cattle shot on his land in Co Monaghan during a bankruptcy seizure earlier this month, is facing allegations of pollution.
John Hoey (49), of Wayside Inn, Crann Nua, Carrickmacross, has been taken to court by Louth County Council under section 4 of the Local Government Water Pollution Act 1977.
It alleges Mr Hoey polluted water at Corcreaghy, Dundalk, Co Louth on September 7th last year.
In Carrickmacross District Court yesterday, Judge Denis McLoughlin was told the alleged offences related to breaches of Mr Hoey's discharge licence.
Catherine Taaffe, solicitor for Mr Hoey, asked the court to note her client would be entering a guilty plea, but said she was seeking an adjournment to finalise matters.
Mr Hoey was not present in court and there was no objection to the adjournment.
The case was listed to be heard in September.
