Cork man to face trial over Kerry Airport drugs find

Cocaine haul described as biggest detected at airport

A 67-year-old man has been sent forward for trial for allegedly having in his possession just under 4kg of cocaine when searched by Customs officers at Kerry Airport in January of this year. The haul has been described as the biggest ever detected at the airport.

William Lamb (67), Clonmeen, Banteer, Cork, was yesterday sent forward on three charges relating to the possession of cocaine for sale and supply and the importation of the drug on January 14th at the airport.

It was alleged in a previous court that the drug was detected in the man’s rucksack lining by Customs officers after Mr Lamb had come off a flight from Franfkurt Hahn in Germany.

Supt Donal Ashe told Tralee District Court yesterday the DPP was consenting to sending him forward for trial, and the book of evidence was now served.
