An action for damages by a man who claims he was assaulted by US actor Woody Harrelson in a Dublin city centre night club has been fixed for hearing by the High Court next April.

Eamonn Cullen claims the actor assaulted him with a snooker cue at Renards nightclub, trading as Engelson Ltd, in September 2001 as a result of which he suffered a split lip requiring 12 stitches. He also alleges a tooth was damaged.

Mr Cullen, a factory manager, with an address in Artane, Dublin, is claiming damages, including exemplary damages, for personal injury, assault and battery, loss, damage and expense as a result of the alleged incident.

Mr Cullen's proceedings against Engleson Ltd, with registered offices at South Frederick Street, Dublin, and Mr Harrelson were mentioned today in a High Court list to fix dates for hearing of personal injuries actions.

Mr Justice John Quirke April 24th next for the hearing of the action, expected to run for two to three days. It was indicated that an application will be brought prior to that to have the proceedings struck out against Mr Harrelson on grounds of delay.

The proceedings were initiated in 2004 against Engleson Ltd and Mr Harrelson was later joined as a co-defendant.
