Swiss RoomBox
The same Swiss efficiency that squeezed a toolbox into a penknife has compressed a camper van into a box you can stick in the back of your hatchback or estate. RoomBox is a cunning modular camping system that includes a dining table for four, a double bed, a gas hob and a sink-cum-shower with hot water. It even comes with its own Swiss Army penknife. Not that you'll need it: the RoomBox assembles in minutes – without tools. From €1,645 (without sink or hob) to €5,810, excluding taxes; see swissroombox.com
PackPoint
For some people the attraction of travel is eroded by a near pathological fear of the final packing. Days of mulling become hours of fretting with the carry-on. The PackPoint app asks a few basic questions – gender, destination, purpose of trip, activities – and suggests a customisable list, taking in factors like the weather and covering everything from clothes to shoe polish to electronics. Co-ordinating colours is up to you, and it's available only for Android for now.
