Passenger finds new way to check in
An elderly woman misunderstood instructions while checking in at Sweden's main airport - and was whisked down a baggage chute after she placed herself instead of her luggage on the belt.
The 78-year-old was preparing to fly from Stockholm-Arlanda Airport to Germany when she lay down on an unmanned baggage belt in the belief that she was following check-in instructions.
She was quickly swept off to the baggage-handling centre, where staff members helped get her back on her feet. The woman suffered no serious injury and caught her flight as planned.
Swimming for charity
Eight heroic individuals from Limerick Masters swimming club are preparing to cross the English Channel next month to raise €100,000 for Muscular Dystrophy Ireland's research fund. Two relay teams of four people, including brothers Darren and Thomas Quinn, will take up the challenge. They have been training hard for the past year to prepare for the swim across the world's busiest shipping zone.
