SHORTS:VIRGIN Atlantic said this week it is putting warnings on weepy films shown during flights because of concerns that emotional passengers might burst into tears.
The "weepy warnings" will initially appear on the Hollywood romantic dramas Water for Elephantsand Just Go With It, flashing up at the start to advise passengers that the movie has the potential to cause tears. Virgin said it took the decision after a passenger survey found that 55 per cent agreed their emotions became heightened during a flight.
Forty-one per cent of men surveyed admitted they hid under blankets to hide their tears, said Virgin.
Daring Irish
IRISH people are amongst the most daring and best-travelled in Europe, according to a survey of travellers in nine European countries by website lastminute.com. Thirty per cent are keen to experience extreme sports on their travels, compared to only 12 per cent of Italians, 16 per cent of French and 19 per cent of Swedes. The Irish are the most likely – 93 per cent – to have a bucket list of must-do travel activities compared to 25 per cent of Britons. And 25 per cent of Irish people have already gone to half the places on their list.
