Your earliest holiday memory?

My first ever family holiday to a caravan camp in Salthill, Galway. Though I was only seven years old, I was in awe of the beautiful, rugged country scenery.

Your worst holiday?

READ SOME MORE

I can't remember the worst one. I always enjoy the holliers and never let anything upset them. Well, seriously delayed flights do. I hate airports.

Your best holiday?

I've had loads of great ones to many destinations all over the world. But I'd probably choose our family visit to see our son Eamonn's graduation from college in Mobile, Alabama. We did the whole hog - Disney World in Orlando, we drove through Florida and explored the exotic hidden beaches on the Gulf Coast of Florida and Alabama.

If budget or work was no restriction, what would be your dream holiday?

A trip around the world on a motorcycle, taking about a year to complete and staying in the best of places. Any takers?

If you had your pick, who would you bring on holiday?

If I didn't say my wife, Yvonne, I'd be shot.

Favourite place in Ireland?

Having lived in the US for 19 years, I came to appreciate the beauty of the entire island of Ireland. There are many fantastic places to visit all over. West Cork is a region I'd like to spend a month in.

What book would you recommend for holiday?

Not a great bookworm. I like a little more physical activity. When push comes to shove I'll read a John Grisham or Mary Higgins Clark thriller.

Where to next?

Costa del Sol, in Spain.
