If you're planning to travel through Stansted with Ryanair this weekend, be warned that security staff working for Ryanair and Easyjet at the airport are planning strike action on Monday. It's a bank holiday in the UK this weekend, so there will also be a greater-than-usual risk of delay. Fortunately for travellers, baggage-handlers and check-in staff at Stansted, Gatwick and Manchester airports have called off a planned series of 24-hour strikes, but, with the sheer numbers of passengers passing through, the security staff strike alone could cause problems.
Before you leave home, check the airport websites to prepare yourself for delays. Also check your airline's website. Give yourself plenty of time, don't carry liquids or sharp objects, and weigh your bag before you leave home.
