RATHGAR: €1.495M:TWO HOUSES on Victoria Road in Rathgar have undergone a complete transformation in recent months and one of them, number 16, is on the market with Sherry FitzGerald for €1.495 million.

The builder who bought the pair of semi-detached redbricks on the quiet Dublin 6 road extended and modernised the houses and his complete renovation included adding solar panels, replacing the old windows and installing a new zoned heating system – which has resulted in a B1 energy rating, a high score for a period house.

The layout of number 16 has changed hugely. On either side of the hall there are two reception rooms, while the back of the house is a large, bright open-plan area with a kitchen at one end and plenty of space for sofas and a dining table. The look throughout is contemporary and period details such as fireplaces and cornices have been removed.

The kitchen units are cream gloss but appliances have not been fitted. The main bedroom has an en suite and there is a guest toilet and a utility room. As well as the four bedrooms, there are two attic rooms. The back garden is 50 metres long, and there is off-street parking to the front for two cars.
