A set of granite steps leads up to the front door, which has stained-glass panelling, and draws the eye through the outer hall to an inner door with similar stained-glass panels.

The hall is typically Victorian with understated coving and cornicing.

The livingroom is the best room in the house. It faces due west and enjoys the warming glow of the afternoon sun.

The room has a white marble fireplace with a black tile inset. Double doors lead into the diningroom, which has a matching fireplace and overlooks the east-facing, gravelled back garden.

On the return there is a sizeable bathroom with a free-standing roll-top bath.

At garden level, the largely timber kitchen features black granite countertops and a Belfast sink. A utility room is situated under the front steps. A pair of French doors leads outside to a small but south-facing patio area that gets the evening sun. This is the property’s sun trap.

To the rear is a TV room with an imposing clay-brick-surround solid fuel fireplace. Double doors lead out to a decked area that gets the sun in the morning. A Greek decorative panel adorns the adjoining wall. Also on this level is a small double bedroom with an ensuite bathroom that would be ideal for an au pair. This room also has French doors leading outside.

A second double bedroom is on the first-floor return. There are two more sizeable bedrooms on the first floor. The master suite is to the front and spans the width of the house. It has a large walk-in wardrobe, though this has no natural light source. To the front and enjoying its own window is a fine bathroom that comes with a step-up double bath for romantic encounters à deux.

A second spacious bedroom to the back has a shower ensuite bathroom. This room has peek-a-boo views of the sea.

An ivy-clad garage breaks up the back garden. Behind it is vehicular rear access where there is room for two cars.
