The renowned English photographer Terry O’Neill, now aged 76, was born to Irish emigrant parents in London – his father was from Cork; his mother from Waterford.

He first rose to fame with his images of London in the “Swinging Sixties”, and his subjects included politicians, actors, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and the British royal family.

A decade later, he took a famous series of photos of Hollywood star Faye Dunaway the morning after she won an Oscar. (He and Dunaway married in 1983 and split up in 1987).

At Bonhams 'Entertainment Memorabilia Sale', in London on June 24th, some of Terry O'Neill's gelatin silver print photographs will go under the hammer. Among them are photographs of Brigitte Bardot (£4,000-£5,000); Frank Sinatra (£4,000-£6,000); Steve McQueen (£2,000-£3,000); Paul Newman (£1,000-£2,000); and a very famous photograph taken in 1975 of David Bowie and Elizabeth Taylor sharing a cigarette during their first meeting in Beverly Hills (£1,500-£2,000).
