In the same family for 62 years, Number 92 Iona Road, Glasnevin, is to be sold by private treaty through HOK Residential with an asking price in excess of £600,000 (#761,840).

Situated opposite Iona Church, it was one of the last houses to be built on the road, around 1931, and was extended in the mid-1940s to 1,850 sq ft to accommodate a large family. While a buyer is likely to spend money updating the house and perhaps extending the rear kitchenette, it is generally in good order and retains a surprising amount of original features including stained glass to the front, coving, ceiling centrepieces and fireplaces.

The interconnecting sittingroom and drawingroom are spacious and feature matching 1930s black and red marble fireplaces with brass insets. While one remains an open hearth, the other is gas-fired coal-effect. Both rooms have been recently carpeted and the sittingroom features a large double-glazed bay window incorporating the original stained glass.

Also off the square entrance hall are an understairs storage area, a downstairs toilet and a large breakfastroom. This has timber flooring and a black range and boiler grate that have not been used for some years. The kitchenette, off the breakfast room, has a door to the back garden.

The front door of the house features the original 1930s glass as does a porthole at the foot of the stairs. Upstairs, the original house has four bedrooms including the large main bedroom with bay window and the original fireplace with marble tiled inset.

The other bedrooms are a second double room and two single rooms, one with a stained glass window and the other a tiny room, formerly the maid's room, with a fireplace. The bathroom has a bright green suite and green wall tiles.

Off the semi-circular landing of the extended area there are two bedrooms and a separate toilet.

The back garden is beautifully tended with a sheltered patio, a lawned area, a garden seat and borders of shrubs and flowers.
