Gardaí appeal for witnesses to crash involving car and four pedestrians at about 5.45pm on Blanchardstown Road North

A woman has been killed and a man seriously injured in a hit-and-run incident after a car crashed into several pedestrians in Blanchardstown, Co Dublin, on Thursday evening.

The woman in her 30s was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash at Blanchardstown Road North following the incident which occurred at about 5.45pm.

The man – also in his 30s – was transferred to Connolly Hospital for treatment, but neither of the other two pedestrians was reported injured.

Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to the incident which took place near Blanchardstown Shopping Centre.

The driver of the car failed to remain at the scene and has yet to come forward, according to gardaí.

The road has been closed for technical examination by forensic collision investigators, with local diversions in place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.

Any road users or pedestrians who were in the vicinity of Blanchardstown Road North, between 5pm and 6pm on Thursday, who have camera footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make this available to investigating gardaí.
