With an eye on the forthcoming party season, two lighter wines that you could serve at your festive bash or simply enjoy with dinner this weekend. Both are available from Dunnes Stores.
Many of us have this idea that rosé is exclusively for the summer months. However, there is no reason why we cannot enjoy it throughout the year. Good rosé goes very well with all sorts of food, including salads, fish and chicken dishes. It also makes a great sipping wine to enjoy when chatting with friends.
All red Beaujolais is made from the gamay grape. Generally lowish in alcohol and free of dry tannins, they make perfect party wines. There is more to them than that though; Beaujolais, including all of its crus, such as Fleurie, Morgon and Moulin-à-Vent, are perfect with a huge variety of foods, from duck to salmon, most firm cheeses and charcuterie.
Solas Réserve Rosé 2022, IGP d’Oc, Laurent Miquel
Called Solas, Irish for light, this is all about lightness; fresh, clean pear and raspberry fruits with a lip-smacking dry finish. This would make a great aperitif or party wine and would also go nicely with lighter salads.
