The Durrow Scarecrow Festival begins tomorrow and a weekend of family fun is programmed around the All-Ireland Scarecrow Competition. A prize fund of €3,000 is on offer, with €1,000 going to the best scarecrow. durrow.ie

DONEGAL

5,000 Years in Stone, an archaeology summer school, will be held in Glencolumbcille from Sunday until August 4th. Now in its 26th year, the school explores the rich archaeological environment of southwest Donegal through lectures and field trips. 074-9730248

Opening tomorrow and running until August 4th, as part of the Skibbereen Arts Festival, the Museum of Miniature features national and international small artworks including items of painting, sculpture and ceramics. Open 11am to 5pm at 4 North Street (closed Sunday).

LIMERICK

A number of organisations have come together to organise a series of screenings at the historic Milk Market. Tomorrow, there's a screening of Singin' in the Rain as well as archive footage of Limerick city. Tickets are €7. eventelephant.com/singinintherain

On Sunday, a fancy-dress pier jump as well as beach fun for all the family takes place at Old Head Pier in Louisburgh. It begins at noon with a sand art display and all proceeds go to Achill Island Lifeboat.

KILDARE

The National Print Museum visits the Riverbank Arts Centre in Newbridge tomorrow with a poster and origami workshop from 11am until 12.30pm. It is suitable for 8-12 year olds. €10, riverbank.ie

DUBLIN

The Irish Greyhound Board is inviting people to attend an awareness day for retired greyhounds tomorrow. Experts will be on hand to show how greyhounds can become family pets. It's at the IKC National Exhibition Centre at Cloghran from 11am to 3pm. greyhoundsaspets.ie
