The dog days are over? My dear Florence, they haven’t even started for you. What a difference 18 months makes; back in the latter half of 2008, a younger, less commercially successful Florence Welch was way, way down on the bill at Electric Picnic, yet here she is striding high and mighty and selling out venues left, right and centre.

Inspired in part by her parents’ divorce and its subsequent domestic fallout (and strongly influenced by her time at Camberwell College of Arts), Florence took to music like the proverbial duck to water, and from the time she started recording in the summer of 2008 she hasn’t looked back. Which is just as well, really, as from what we’ve seen, heard and learned of Florence so far, she’s always looking ahead.
