Sports Championsis a different animal to
Wii Sports. The graphics are less cartoonish, the tone more serious. Some of the sport events are better than others, though there's only one real clunker (disk golf). Table tennis is a good place to start; easy to pick up and close to the real thing. In volleyball the sprites do the jumping and diving for you, but you still have to lean in or stretch up to nab that ball. With the gladiatorial duels, the control system shows its sophistication in how you block, strike or even sweep at the feet of your opponents. And archery is captivating when you use two controllers (one for holding the arrow, the other for drawing the bow). The controls in are intuitive and very accurate, and the learning curve is easy, making for an accessible and winning sports game. Wear comfortable clothes.
