A man charged with dangerous driving causing the death of Marguerita O’Rourke in Rathkeale, Co Limerick has been remanded in continuing custody.
Ms O’Rourke (née Sheridan), of Roches Row, Rathkeale, suffered critical injuries and died following the incident at Bank Place on Well Lane at around 12.15pm last Saturday.
Danny O’Donoghue (42), of Lower Main Street, Rathkeale, is also accused of causing criminal damage to a set of gates; threatening to kill or cause serious harm to Patrick Sheridan; producing a machete during the course of making the alleged threat; and causing criminal damage to Mr Sheridan’s van, all at Rathkeale, on December 21st last.
He appeared before a vacation sitting of Limerick District Court, via video-link from Limerick Prison.

Sgt Sean Murray said gardaí were awaiting further directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) and he applied for a four-week remand in custody for the accused.
John Herbert, solicitor for Mr O’Donoghue, said his client was consenting to the State’s application.
Judge Adrian Harris remanded Mr O’Donoghue in continuing custody to appear before Limerick District Court on January 21st for the DPP’s directions.
Ms O’Rourke (21) and her husband Denis had celebrated the birth of their first child, Edward, less than four weeks ago.
Her funeral will take place at St Mary’s Church, Rathkeale at 12.30pm on Sunday. Hundred of people attended a candle lit vigil for in Ms O’Rourke’s memory in Rathkeale on Christmas Eve.
