Ryanair’s passenger numbers rose by 8 per cent in July, with the airline carrying 8.72 million people, compared with 8.08 million in the same month a year earlier.
This increase brought the airline’s total passenger numbers to 77.72 million in the year to July.
Ryanair’s load factor, which measures the number of passengers as a percentage of total seats available, dipped by 1 per cent in July to 88 per cent. Its load factor in the year to July stood at 82 per cent.
Earlier this week, Ryanair announced five new routes from Cork to eastern Europe.
The airline will start flying from Cork to Gdansk, Krakow, Warsaw and Wroclaw in Poland and Vilnius in Lithuania from November.
At the end of July, Ryanair reported a 29 per cent fall in profits in the three months to the end of June and said it was due to higher fuel costs.
