GameAccount Network, a gaming software firm led by Dermot Smurfit jnr, has won the prestigious casino platform supplier award in the United States.

The internet gaming industry award was given to the company at eGaming Review magazine's North American Awards.

GameAccount Network won the award for its market-leading Gamestack gaming system which was deployed for Betfair in New Jersey’s regulated real money internet gaming market.

GameAccount Network chief executive Dermot Smurfit said winning the award was a great recognition of the “blood, sweat and tears put into building a casino platform business in the United States”.

He said the company has made “extraordinary progress” in the US, and was now positioned to expand into other US-regulated real money internet gaming markets such as Pennsylvania.

GameAccount Network reported a pre-tax loss of £2.6 million (€3.6m) for 2014 compared with a profit of £1.6 million (€2.23m) a year earlier.

The company, which was founded in 2002 and listed on the London and Dublin stock exchanges in late 2013, said that revenue fell from £12.3 million (€17.1m) in 2013 to £7.5 million (€10.4m) last year.
