Online television platform Aertv has launched an Android app to allow users to stream and access television on their mobile devices.

The app allows Android user here to watch 23 TV channels including RTÉ One, RTÉ Two, TV3, 3e and BBC One with Aertv’s live TV subscription package.

It also supports Google Chromecast, allowing viewers to stream content directly from their mobile device to their TV.

"This is appealing to anyone thinking of moving away from increasingly expensive TV packages and looking to build their own TV package with subscription services like Aertv for live TV and Netflix for Video-on-demand," said Karen Howley, head of Aertv.

“We have had success to date with the Aertv website and iOS App, but this changes everything with the Android market , currently accounting for 47.5 per cent of Irish mobile users, now able to access TV streaming through the App,” she said.

The TV subscription package is €5.99 per month with the first one free.
