On a special episode of our daily election podcast, Pat Leahy looks at the results of the first Irish Times poll of the 2024 general election campaign, which suggests that Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil are on course to resume governing in the next Dáil should they choose to resume their coalition.
But the only group to make significant gains is the diverse category of independents, with smaller parties struggling to make an impact and Sinn Féin remaining below the level of support it achieved in the 2020 election.
