Wyckham Point on Dundrum’s Wyckham Way launched in 2007 as a joint venture between O’Malley Construction of Galway, and Jerry Haughey’s Dorville Homes.

The two companies jointly acquired the three-acre site which was formerly the grounds of Gort Mhuire, a Carmelite house, and built 514 units around its mature grounds, creating pathways through the sylvan setting that include a bridge over a private lake.

The units to the front may oversee the constant stream of traffic heading towards the M50, but those to the rear of the development enjoy the sound of birdsong and the water feature in the centre of the development. Dundrum Town Centre and Balally Luas Stop are minutes away by foot.

Number 49 is a two-bed, top-floor unit of 60sq m/645sq ft that has been upgraded by its fashion-buyer owner. He is also studying interior design, and used his home to apply his learning.

He did some minor reconfiguring of the unit incorporating the pantry into the kitchen area and replacing the units with a darker two-tone design with smart laminate worktops and splashback.

The floor was replaced with an on-trend grey laminate, and a steel and wenge media unit was custom made to house the TV. The original door from the hall was replaced by a set of double glass doors, and smart new wall panelling and skirting give the space a fresh feel.

The master bedroom has sliding wardrobes, while the guest room, a smaller double, is used by the couple as a study, and is set up with a desk and a sofa bed.

The balcony spans the length of the property, and is very private as it is not overlooked. There is only one other unit on this floor and it is situated across the hall.

Annual management fees are about €2,000, and include membership of a gym, complete with sauna and steam rooms.

The property was purchased in 2015 for €123,250, according to the property price register. The C2 BER-rated penthouse is now seeking €545,000 through agent Lisney.
