Knocksinna, a cul-de-sac in Foxrock, off the busy N11, is made up of mainly art deco-inspired homes and when developer Gerard Kelly set about building two upmarket detached houses at the end of the cul-de-sac he commissioned Tony Horan of Horan Rainsford Architects to design the new builds in keeping with the style of the road.

Suantraí is a modernist-inspired 462sq m (4,972sq ft) white-rendered house with an A3 energy rating and five bedrooms. It first went for sale on completion in 2010 for €2.75 million, eventually selling in 2013 to its present owners for €1.6 million. They are now selling, through Sherry FitzGerald, asking €2.25 million.

They moved in and didn’t change a thing. Inside, the polished granite-floored hall opens into a large formal sittingroom and adjacent diningroom to the left. The sittingroom features a dancing-flame, flush-to-the-wall gas fire. These rooms have interconnecting doors with tilt-and-turn French windows that open out to the garden.

The kitchen-cum-family room features a simple white kitchen with a composite stone breakfast bar and floor to ceiling windows looking out to the garden. The house has a basement level where there is a huge games- room-cum-home-cinema, illuminated by light wells to the front and back of the house. Down here also is the first of the house’s fifth bedrooms, as well as a kitchenette and large wet room.

On the first floor there are four en-suite double bedrooms with built-in wardrobes.

The house has recessed mood lighting, under-floor heating and limed-oak floors. There’s also an in-built heat recovery system and solar panels. The garden is small relative to the size of the house.

Out front, there is off-street parking for three to four cars behind electronic stainless steel gates, designed by the architect.
