The sun is attempting to shine as I write, so, by way of encouragement, I feature two summery wines from Aldi this week. The Aldi Gavi has always been very good and offers great value for money at less than €10. Light in alcohol with a refreshing acidity, it is the ideal summer drink.
Sales of rosé increase once the sun comes out. I have written about the red and white versions of Le Petit Poulet recently. The rosé is also worth considering. Like the red and the whiteb it is also made from a blend of various grape varieties, this time including grenache, syrah, cinsault, caladoc, pinot noir and merlot.

Specially Selected Gavi 2025
12%, €9.99
Crisp and lively with green apple fruits, good citrus acidity and a dry finish. Drink by itself, with snacks before dinner or with grilled white fish.
From Aldi

Le Petit Poulet Rosé 2025
12.5%, €8.99
Light and refreshing with piquant redcurrant and raspberry fruits. This would be great on its own, or with herby Asian chicken and seafood dishes.
