Kieron Campbell is demonstrating his versatility at Sunbury, making a considerable impression with London Irish coach Dick Best. The Ireland Under-21 scrum-half was selected to play on the wing a couple of weeks into the season because of injuries but adapted so well that Best has chosen him there in several matches.

The 20-year-old was a member of the World Cup-winning Under-19 team in France in 1998 and this summer made the trip to Argentina for the SANZAR tournament. He produced a series of outstanding performances, most notably in the games against Argentina and New Zealand before being forced out of or the tournament with concussion.

A fine passer, he reads the game superbly, is blessed with good pace and represents an excellent prospect. He has benefited from the guidance of Kevin Putt at London Irish and the regard in which he is held can be illustrated by the fact that Best has placed England A international Peter Richards on the transfer list.
