Racing: Brian Boru remains a 4 to 1 favourite for the Epsom Derby after working over a mile and a quarter after racing yesterday.
The Sadler's Wells colt was ridden by Michael Kinane and finished up a length ahead of his stable companion, The Great Gatsby (Seamus Heffernan). Another Ballydoyle colt, Dickens (Colm O'Donoghue), completed the work party.
Afterwards Kinane said: "I'm happy with him. He is in good shape and he moved well. He has done enough there with a race four weeks away."
Kinane had earlier ridden Alberto Giacometti and said: "I hold my hand up and say the winner got away but my horse just got tired. I would expect him to step up and leave that behind. But I would also say, without a doubt, the second (Alamshar) is a very good horse."
Brian Boru's workout was hand timed at almost three seconds slower than the 2.05.9 recorded by Balestrini in the Ballysax Stakes.
Ryalux, winner of the Scottish Grand National at Ayr, is reported to be in top form following the race on Saturday by his trainer Andy Crook.
The 10-year-old, one of the most consistent horses in training, finally got his reward in the four-mile, one furlong event when just holding off Stormez by a neck in a thrilling finish.
Crook and the horse's owner, William Lomax, could be tempted to let Ryalux have a crack at the Martell Cognac Grand National at Aintree next spring. "It's not my decision but we would have to be looking at the Grand National. You only get one shot at the National and he's tailor-made for it and I think Mr Lomax would like to go for it," added Crook.
