The first properly mass-market electric car is ageing a touch now, and you can really feel it in the cabin, which looks rather plain and dowdy now that you can buy it in black and grey (as opposed to the 2001: A Space Odyssey-style beige and white cabins of the early models) and the noise of the plastics creaking and groaning over bumps is a reminder than there's no engine noise to cover them up. Then again, the Leaf remains one of the most useable and practical electric cars around, not to mention amongst the best for value. The updated 33kWh model, which boasts a 250km range, will still leave you in a sweat of range anxiety on motorway journeys and is about to be left behind in the range race by the competition.
