It looks like the Anderson family is pressing ahead with an expansion of their Omniplex cinema chain, according to recent company filings.

Paul and Mark Anderson, two scions of the family, have registered a new company called Dalkbridge, which will open a cinema in Dundalk retail park, according to filings.

The cinema plan appears set to go ahead despite opposition from the Ward family, the Anderson's former business partners in the Ward Anderson cinema group until it split acrimoniously in recent years.

The Ward’s IMC group had previously objected to the Anderson planning application for Dundalk.

Meanwhile, new accounts for the Anderson's Sawbridge, which owns the Swan Shopping Centre and the cinema in Rathmines, show it boosted revenues to €4 million last year on the back of summer blockbusters such as the Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.

The accounts also show the value of the building was revalued upwards by more than 10 per cent to almost €30 million.
