Armagh – reflection and healing

Sir, – In all the discussion regarding the planned occasion for reflection and healing to be held in St Patrick’s Cathedral, Armagh, later this month, it should be remembered that clergy and people of all churches played a very important part in being with those who suffered as a result of violence and unrest.

Instead of worrying about who should or should not attend, let us be grateful that Ireland has come to the stage where clergy and people feel that now is a good time to come together to acknowledge the hurt, pain and devastation this caused but also the contact, care and compassion that quietly continued on in the background over the decades?

I wish all concerned well and that the peace of mind and heart which many have longed for can be experienced in the beautiful city of Armagh. – Yours, etc,

RUTH GILL,
