Enda Kenny willing to meet family of missing girl Mary Boyle

Six-year-old girl went missing in Co Donegal nearly 30 years ago

Taoiseach Enda Kenny has said he is willing to meet the family of Mary Boyle, a six-year-old girl who went missing in Co Donegal nearly 30 years ago.

Mary's twin, Ann Doherty, met TDs yesterday and pleaded for further investigations into her sister's case.

The Taoiseach told the Dáil he had received information about Mary’s disappearance years ago and had passed it on to gardaí. He said he could not say if the allegation made was followed up or not.

Mr Kenny said operational matters for gardaí, on a day-to-day basis, were a matter for the Garda Commissioner. Mr Kenny said he was more than willing to meet the Boyle family if they requested.

Ms Doherty has claimed she has new information about her sister’s disappearance and knows who was behind it. She said the circumstances of her death have not been fully investigated and the evidence has not been thoroughly examined.

Ms Doherty met deputies from a range of parties including Sinn Féin's Pearse Doherty and Pádraig Mac Lochlainn, Fianna Fáil's John McGuinness, Renua leader Lucinda Creighton and Social Democrat Catherine Murphy.

Mary Boyle was six when she vanished in 1977. She was last seen close to her grandparents’ home at Cashelard in Donegal on March 18th, 1977. She has not been seen since and is presumed dead.
