Christopher McCarthy of Glendalough Park, the Lough, Cork had denied five counts of indecently assaulting his niece, Tanya Walsh, between 1978 and 1989.

But today at Cork Circuit Criminal Court, the jury of six men and six women found McCarthy guilty of two of the counts following over five hours of deliberation.

The jury found him guilty of indecently assaulting Ms Walsh while watching Airplane on television at his parents' house at Ballyphehane, Cork on Christmas Day, 1984. They also found him guilty of assaulting her at a function at Cork GAA headquarters at Páirc Uí Chaoimh between October 17th and October 20th, 1989.
