The body of a 30-year-old man was found at a funeral home in Co Louth where a fire broke out late last night, gardaí have confirmed.

The discovery was made by emergency services searching for a Lithuanian man (30) who had been working at the Ardee premises when the blaze began at 5.15pm.

Finlay’s funeral services makes coffins and it is believed that the man was in a workshop where the blaze started.

A garda spokesman said that they believe the fire began accidently.

Fire units from Dundalk, Drogheda and Ardee attended the blaze and brought it under control.

Finlay’s is a family run business that began in 1933 and it employs around 24 staff. It expanded from making coffins into also providing other funeral services a number of years ago.
