Met Éireann has predicted that there will be snowfall in some parts of the country later this week as freezing temperature are expected to hit.
The forecaster has said that the country will experience a colder weather front from Wednesday onwards.
“Thursday will be a bitterly cold day with fresh, gusty north to northwest breezes and afternoon temperatures of just 3 degrees Celsius to 6 Celsius.
“The likelihood of snow will increase in the evening and night as temperatures falls to between -2C and 1C,” said Met Éirean.
It’s expected that the north and west of the country will experience the worst conditions in the coming days.
“Wednesday looks like being a very wet day with showers in all areas but once that clears, the cold temperature will set in. Thursday and Friday will be the coldest period of weather.
“At the moment it looks like the air will be very cold which brings wintry showers but there will be a greater risk of snow with this,” added Met Éireann.
Looking ahead to next weekend, Saturday will be cold and mainly dry with sunny spells. Highest temperatures of 3 to 6 degrees with light westerly winds, gradually backing southerly.
