Gardaí have seized €300,000-worth of cannabis and arrested a man in his late 20s during an operation in southeast Dublin.
During a planned search by the Dublin Crime Response Team of a residence in the Dundrum area, cannabis herb worth approximately €300,000, divided into vacuum-sealed packages, was discovered and seized along with €2,000 in cash.
The man, aged in his late 20s, was arrested in connection with the seizure and is being detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 at a Garda station in the Dublin region.
Speaking following the seizure, Assistant Commissioner Paul Cleary, Dublin Metropolitan Region, said the “large seizure of illicit drugs is a further example of the ongoing efforts of An Garda Síochána to target and arrest those in our communities who are involved in criminal activity”.

This seizure forms part of Operation Tara; an enhanced national anti-drugs strategy, which was launched by Garda Commissioner Drew Harris onJuly 2nd, 2021.
The focus of Operation Tara is to disrupt, dismantle and prosecute drug trafficking networks at all levels – including international, national and local – involved in the importation, distribution, cultivation, production, local sale and supply of controlled drugs.
