Illuminate your loved one with a lamp from Copperfish Lighting. Eoin Shanley’s award-winning business creates lighting from storm-fallen timber. It has a range of table-top and pendant options but one of its most elegant is its Heron floor lamp (€450).
Emmet Bosonnet’s Kopper Kreation is another sustainable option. It specialises in turning offcuts from copper piping into something special. His new Metaline collection won best overall product at Showcase, the craft fair for international buyers, and includes the new Aeris Duo candle holder, priced from (€85).
How about a beautiful throw or scarf, handwoven at Avoca’s historic mill in Wicklow. The country’s best-known weaver has introduced a monogram service that lets you customise each piece with the recipients’ initials, with embroidery starting from €15.
Jewellery has always marked heartfelt feelings and Enibas has a lovely new range called Buíochas Go Deo – forever grateful. Designed by founder Sabine Lenz, who is now joined in the business by her daughter Anna-Leah, the collection “celebrates gratitude, growth and the women and mothers who shape our lives”. Another fab range comes from Áine Breen’s Liwu Jewellery. The Coastal Vibe Collection, cast from shells found on Wexford’s beaches, and cost €110-€399. Catch it online or at Lu & Mol, her Gorey shop.
Forget handbags at dawn, it’s handbags on Christmas morn for Reidin Magner of ByReidin, an eye-catching range of leather and velvet bags, which retail from €165 to €265. Magner, a bone-fide jet setter (she still works part time as cabin crew) developed her love of design while travelling the world. The result are low-key luxury bags that have quite literally, ahem, taken off.
For a signature fashion piece, how about Emerald & Wax’s beautiful kimono-style jackets (€204-€304), which fuse Japanese lines with founder Virtue Shine’s Ghanaian heritage. The designer, a veteran of pop-ups in shops such as Brown Thomas, has recently opened her own shop in Galway.
For homewares, check out the country and coastal ranges from Run Baby Run Pottery, Donna Ironmonger’s range of mugs, vases and jars, including a beautiful bottleneck vessel from €55. For textiles, Ceadogán Rugs has comfy cushions made from all natural materials and upcycled wool stuffing (offcuts from their hand-tufted rugs) starting from €45.
Christmas is also about sweet treats, and some of the tastiest confections are coming from Denise Buckley’s Sugar Plum Sweetery in Mullingar. This Christmas she has added new flavours, including a mash-up of her bestselling Dubai style and bueno-boss bars. There’s a gift bundle from €45.95 and look out for her first ever box of chocolates, one to buy by the pallet.
